Engineering the Eye

Born out of the LVP–MITRA Program, a collaborative medtech hackathon between L V Prasad Eye Institute and MIT Media Lab, this initiative bridges clinical expertise with cutting-edge engineering. The program connects world-class ophthalmologists from LVPEI, Hyderabad with leading engineers and scientists from MIT and other global institutions to co-create the next generation of eye-care technologies.

I had the opportunity to organize three consecutive hackathons, bringing together innovators, clinicians, and researchers to transform ideas into impactful solutions for vision care. Beyond the technology, it was incredibly fun and rewarding to inspire young STEM minds and introduce them to the exciting possibilities of health tech, innovation, and collaboration.

I served as a mentor in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) at L.A. Matheson Secondary School, Surrey, helping students develop robots, write control software, and collaborate effectively as a team while nurturing a strong foundation in STEM learning and innovation.
