Hi, I am Sandeep Vempati, a Product Manager at OIVI AS an Indo-Norwegian health tech startup developing a 6 DOF fully automated retinal camera with a Medical Device-as-a-Service (M-Daas) business model, building a cloud-connected medical device for clinics under the DaaS model.

Previously I was working as a Project Lead at Center for Innovation at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, a collaborative Innovation lab started by LV Prasad Eye Institute and MIT Media Labs. I'm an innovation-technology enthusiast, inclined towards design thinking and frugal innovation. My interests lie in developing next-generation healthcare solutions for the rural population and making them reach the masses.

My areas of interest are Bio-mechanical Engineering, User Centric Design, Manufacturing, Geometrical Optics and Imaging. As part of my work, I got my hands dirty with almost all medical device development processes. Most of my work is open source and you can see them in the projects section. With my experience in the medical field, I now believe engineers can contribute a lot to the healthcare sector in democratizing healthcare and making it more affordable to everyone.
